Why my clients choose natural and candid family photography at home
My clients are looking for authentic and natural family photography that expresses the real character of their family. It is not about looking perfect and smiling for the camera, but capturing all the moments, from the laughter, the tenderness, the energy, and yes sometimes tantrums and tears (where I also always find love!).
Lifestyle family photographers will pose you, suggest what you should wear and will make everything look “picture perfect”. I take a documentary approach to photography and all of the images you see here are candid. I love this approach as the photographs of your family will be unique to you. They can express so much more about the your kids and your relationships than a photograph that is “set up”.
The joy of this approach is also that you don’t have to travel to a studio, put on matching outfits, or ask the kids to be on their best behaviour. I will come to your home or a local park, somewhere you like to hang out, and will just be there with you (but with a camera!). My clients say that time flies during a session and it feels very natural having me around. My experience is that children have bit of curiosity about the camera but otherwise are very relaxed about it all.
